Hi @bbbad,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see that you are having issues printing from AutoCad. I will certainly do my best to help you.
I believe the AutoCad software uses PCL 6 Language, the printer is only using PCL 3 Language. Most likely they aren't compatible together, since the language is different, it could cause this issue. You would need a PCL 6 language driver and printer compatible with this software.

You can check to make sure that the print driver is set to the correct paper type and paper size, HP Printers - Printing and Changing Print Settings (Windows).
You might have to contact the Manufacturer of the AutoCad software, to find out more specifications of the software.
Depending on the operating system you are using, you could try a generic driver to see if that will also help.
For Windows 7:
On the computer, go to Start, Devices and Printers, select Add a Printer. Follow the steps, select HP and Deskjet 9800 from the list. Set this one as the default printer.
For Window 8/10:
- Go to the start up screen. (tiles menu)
- Type in "Devices and Printers", select settings, click on Devices and Printers.
- Click on Add Printer and follow the steps.
- Select the HP Officejet PCL3 Class Driver from the list.
Set that printer as the default printer and try printing the 11" x 17" landscape format size again.
Please let me know the results and if there is anything else I can help you with. If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. Thank you.
