HP ENvy 5642
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

I recently purchased a HP Envy 5642 printer.  I have no problem printing smaller documents, the problem is with large documents.  I'm trying to print a document 99KB and I get the message:

PRINT FILTER PIPELINE HAS STOPPED WORKING AND WILL CLOSE

After getting this message, I took my PC to my computer tech, he updated/cleaned up and said all was ok.  Still got the same message so I called HP support.  I was on the phone with the tech for over 2 hours, he remotely accessed my PC and uninstalled/installed printer, cleaned out the printing que and other things, still same thing although he was excellent and patient he suggested I contact Microsoft.

I really don't think the issue is the printer.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Have you resolved it?  Or do I throw my computer out the window:smileymad:

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

njrebo

@njrebo, welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out.

I understand that you get an error message "PRINT FILTER PIPELINE HAS STOPPED WORKING AND WILL CLOSE"

while printing a large document.

This issue could occur if the windows temporary files are not deleted.

Please follow the steps to delete the windows temporary files.

  1. Close all open applications.
  2. Click the Start button.
  3. In the Search programs and files box, enter Disk Cleanup and press Enter
  4. Locate Disk Cleanup in the list and double-click to open. Wait for the window to open.
  5. Select (check) these choices.
    • Downloaded Program Files
    • Temporary Internet Files
    • Offline web pages
    • Recycle Bin
    • Temporary files
    • Thumbnails
Note: Setup Log Files and System error memory dump files should be left unchecked.
  6. Click OK. Click Delete Files.
  7. The window will close when done.

Let me know how that works.
I hope you have a good day ahead.
