If you've tried those things and the printer is still looking for the old SSID and doesn't have an IP address you should probably try "Restore to Factory defaults". After factory defaults have been restored try to see if you can find the "Wireless setup wizard" from your printer's control panel.

After doing some research I see 2 options for your printer:
1. From your printers front panel choose Setup->Network->WiFi Protected Setup
For this option your router must support WiFi Protected Setup. Most routers do support WPS so this probably won't be an issue
2. From the Start Menu Start->HP->Photosmart Wireless B109->Printer and Software setup
Launch the Printer and Software setup program from the start menu. Of course you software must be installed for this to work. Let me know how it goes and if you run into trouble I'll help out.

I forgot you were using a MAC. There should be something similar to Printer and Software setup for the MAC. So try option 1 and if that doesn't work, I have some friends that know something about MAC's and I'll ask them for more details on how to set it up.

Hi Mike, I tried option 1, my router does support WiFi protected setup, but the result was WPS error message.
I am beginning to wonder if there is a problem with the printer or software. All your helpful suggestions do not seem to be producing a result.

If you are looking for the Device Setup and Software on a Mac, open the Finder>>Applications>>HP>>Photosmart B109>>Device Setup and Software or Wireless Configuration. Do you see those options? I hope this helps.

Thanks VisionAiry for your response.
Its not quite as you describe but there is an HP Setup Assistant. I have tried this several times. When it comes to the wireless setup it tells me that the printer must be connected to the computer by USB, which it is. Unfortunately the setup assistant disagrees with me and insists that the printer is not connected via USB and I cannot go any further with the setup process.
As I said in my previous post I am coming to the conclusion that there must be a software problem. To get round the issue I have set up shared printing via my iMac and that seems to work.

I understand this could very well be a problem with the software but have you tested the USB cord on your iMac to make sure it works or perhaps even try a different USB printer cord all-together?
I cannot recall this type of computer having problems detecting a USB cord before, so I suggest resetting your printing system. This will remove all other printers you have on this computer, but hopefully this will help with the installation.

After that, click this link to download the Photosmart B109n Full Feature Software and Drivers for 10.8 OS. I hope this helps!

Hello
I have the same problem. I have followed all the above guidance without any joy.
Could anyone help?
I have a MAC (MBP) running OSX 10.8.5
I have reset the printer.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and software. Original CD and updated from website.
My router MAC filter is off.
My router is in range on 2.4GHZ and detectable on the wireless report from the printer but I still can connect it wirelessly.
I have switched from a EE Brightbox 1 to 2 router.
Best wishes
Pierre
