HP Deskjet 2514
Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)

I first had a problem where my printer would not stop printing, even though I canceled it.  I looked it up and followed these instructions.

From the Desktop, hold down the Windows key and press R.  Into the Run window, type services.msc and hit enter.  Browse down to the print spooler service, right click it and select Properties then click on the Stop button.  Now browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS and delete the job inside this folder - You may need to click a prompt to gain the appropriate authority to open the PRINTERS folder.

Restart the computer and you should find the document(s) have been removed.

I didn't know which one to delete, so I deleted everything in the folder.  Now,  my printer will print, but everytime I try to scan something, my power button blinks and it won't scan.   Please help!

Hi @Donna924,

I read your post and see that you were able to resolve the issue for the print jobs not cancelling out, but now you are unable to scan. I would be happy to help you.

Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.

Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor, it will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. This software will also troubleshoot jobs stuck in the queue, which you could use in the future if the issue occurs again.

What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)

Thank you, it updated my software for me and the scanning worked.
