Laserjet M402dn
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit)

I installed this as a network check printer however our business software requires that the spooling be turned off and enable print direct.   When I go to that property setting in athe advanced tab it is greyed out and inactive.

I have stopped spooling and still nothing.

I have paused printing and nothing

I installed the latest driver version 16.0.16147.656 and nothing.

Is there a trick to do this?

Again I am trying to activate the option to "Print directly to the printer" from advanced tab of the printer properties from the server.

Are all of the options on the Advanced tab greyed out or just the spooling option? Which driver are you using? Are you using a shared queue being hosted by a different server/computer?

undefinedThe only option that is in active is option to Print Directly top the Printer.

As mentioned in orginal post I am uing the mosu upto date driver version 16.0.16147.656.

It is a network printer that is shared. However only one person prints to it. It is a check printer. It is installed on a Windows Server 2012 with Print Server Roles enabled.

It's odd, I don't see the 16... version available for 2012 Win  server, just the 8... version.

I just installed the 16... version here on a Win 7 computer, and it offers this option up.

I would offer a couple of possible workarounds:

1) If the printer is hosted on Win 2012, but you are adding as networked up on Win 2008, you might see if the option is available if you login to the Win 2012 machine

2) The Universal PCL6 driver should work fine, and it certainly offers this option up, so you might think about using the UPD instead.
