HP Photosmart C410
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

When I send anything to the printer it will remain stuck in the print queue after printing and refuses to be cancelled or deleted ,requiring a restart of the print spooler to delete the print job. Sometimes it will print multiple copies, sometimes none.

Un-installed and re-installed the software. Same result.

Aaaargh!!!!

Hi,

Yep, tried all of those solutions and still no joy.

One thing is that when re-installing it always fails at connecting the device by USB, wireless or Ethernet cable.

When going online to look at the printer it shows connected be it wireless or cable depending what is connected.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback.

Can ensure that your OS is updated?

Try this uninstaller from Microsoft and the reinstall again.

Let us know if that works!

I have this same issue. HP inkjet 310. Both windows 10 and printer have the most up to date versions of their software.

Here's the sequence:

- Print queue is empty

- Print a document from windows 10 PC

- Document printers correctly

- Windows shows document sent to printer, but job never updates or deletes from print queue

- If I printer another document, it appears in the queue but nevers gets to the printer due to the 1st job stuck in the queue

- 1st document cannot be deleted from print queue

- If I stop the print spooler service on the laptop, manually empty the queue, restart the laptop, the queue is now empty

- Next document I print does the exact same sequence, it prints but never leaves or updates in the queue.

Really, really frustrating...  Stuck.

I've unchecked "Enable advanced printing features" in printer properties, Advanced tab and it has behaved normally so far.

Problem: After successfully printing the spooler hangs. Unable to cancel the completed job and unable to refresh the printer queue. HP's solution is unacceptable: uninstall, reinstall and/or restart computer.

My Solution: Run as Admin the following bat file which will stop the spooler, delete files, and restart the spooler..

rem Run as Administrator
echo off
net stop Spooler
cd "C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS"
del "C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS\*.shd" /s /f /q
del "C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS\*.spl" /s /f /q
del "C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS\*.tmp" /s /f /q
timeout /t 10
net start Spooler
echo on

Save this in notepad as a text file with .bat extension, for example, "stopdelstartSpooler.bat".

Run as admin
