Help

After downloading the latest software for the HP Officejet 6500 A Plus the Printer Assistant appears and works. The Printer Assistant WILL NOT remain on my Windows 10 opererating system. After checking the Printer Assistant then minimizing it then rechecking the Printer Assistant it still works fine but when I close it it is gone from my PC. I have tried the download (2) twice with the same result. I tried to install the original HP CD and the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series operating Windows 10 WILL NOT accept it. I have to use Readiris Pro 14 to scan anything from my PC and that is not as good as the original Print Assistant, however it is now my only scan program . How can I retrieve the Printer Assistant  program?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP forum.  Can you try this alternative scan software:

HP Scan Extended

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Let us know if that works.

NO. But thanks. A work around is that it can be found on the last step of the Scan Doctor. Can it be separated as a stand alone program or app? Harry

Hi @HL1194

"Can it be separated as a stand alone program or app?"

Answer is "Not that we're aware of"

Not sure why you would not want to try the HP Scan Extended.  It's using the latest Scan User Interface for HP printers.

An example is shown below.

One other suggestion is to download the "HP All in One Remote" from the Windows Store.

HP AiO Remote apps

Follow these steps to get the apps (if it's not already installed) :

1. Go to Windows Store
2. Search for "HP AiO Remote" apps
3. Install the apps.
4. The apps should detect your wireless printer, under the apps, there is a "Scan" function.
5. Click on the Scan and it will direct you to download the "Scan and Capture" apps.
6. After installing, you should be able to Scan.

Hope that helps.
