Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless chewing up paper and printing on a tilt. Previous paper mismatch error, seems resolved now but all printing either gets jammed, with the edges chewed up or comes out tilted.

Hello AuroraMidwifery

Try the following article. It should resolve the problem. You may also want to check the paper size and paper type you have set in the Printer Preferences. If the problem persists the last step in the article is to contact HP support.

I have managed to fix the paper issue by running the "Clean Printhead" function numerous times, however, I am unable to print sheets of labels now... They now print slightly tilted and too high on the page (> a centimeter from the top of the page). Any thoughts? They were printing completely normally 2 days ago before the printer started destroying paper. Thanks for your insight.

Hello AuroraMidwifery

The first thing i would do is try adjusting the paper guide in the paper tray. You may also need to realign the printer.

From the printer

  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Press the Setup button
  3. Select Tools
  4. Select Align Printer
  5. Press OK. Press ok again when the alignment is done.

After going through the above article and running several Printer Alignments, I still cannot get it to print straight or lower on the page. The top line is far too high and slants downwards and to the right. I've printed a report and it seems to be in good working order.

Any other suggestions? I appreciate the help so far!

Hello AuroraMidwifery

Did you print the report page from the printer or the computer and was the report tilted at all? What application are you printing from? Have you tried using Notepad? Also what operating system are you using?

Hi Travis
Yes the report was tilted. Everything is tilted. I'm printing from word, email, faxes, multiple sources. Notepad wont work as our templates and headers are in Word. I'm fairly certain the problem is in the mechanics of the printer itself.

Hello AuroraMidwifery

Thank you for your patience. Sometimes different media types can cause problems with paper path issues. How old is the paper and have you tried a new ream and what type of media are you using?

Also please verify which printer model you have exactly. You can find it in the door where the ink is installed.

Hi Travis

I've tried a few different stacks of our standard printer paper. It was purchased within the last 2 months.

We print out our labels on "Staples 1" x 2 5/8" compatible with Avery 5160/8160" label sheets.

We've used both types of media in this printer for approximately a year and never had an issue.

Our model is an A909g.

Please note I'll be out of the office until Monday, any insight between now and then would be fantastic and much appreciated. I look forward to speaking with you then.
