First HP printer wouldn't connect. So I posted here, got advice, connected the Printer to the computer and driver installed. Then jobs were stuck. So I changed printer's IP and rebooted. Deleted all jobs in spooler (which wasnt easy)  Tried printing again.  Jobs still stuck. Turned everything off. Tried printing via USB and it works. Tried network and jobs stuck again. Light on HP is solid blue so it must be connected to the network. have Printer claim code. DOn't know what to do with it.

My old CD won't load. So I can't use that.

Hello, @PamD – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for your continued participation on the HP Forums! I’d like to help!

I see that you are having issues while printing on your HP LaserJet printer. Going through your post, it is very clear that the printer is connected to the network, but not properly installed on your Pc or has issues with the spooler. Do not worry, simply follow the steps below to try and fix the issue:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL32431/bi-80329-11/hp_LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution-v... to install the software.
  • In the connection type window, select “Wireless” and continue with the on-screen instructions to install the printer.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂

Hi Dvortex,

Thank you for your help. It is very much appreciated as I have been at this now for a long time. (days)

I got to the bullet step #5, 'remove drivers' and got this error:

The following package(s) can not be deleted:

hp1100.inf (x64)
This package contains the following driver(s) that are in use:
HP LaserJet Professional P 1102w; This driver is used on:
HP LaserJet Professional P 1102w

The following driver(s) can not be deleted:

Driver HP LaserJet Professional P 1102w (x64) is in use. It is used on:
HP LaserJet Professional P 1102w

I have my USB unplugged and powered down. Steps 1-4 were successful. How do I get around it? I know it is important to delete. I even deleted devices that came with the computer that I don't own.

How to I get this to not be in use? It is gone from the Devices and printers list.

Thanks for your help so far. I now have hope that this problem may be solved with your kind help.

Pam

OK I found a way to shut down the spooler and restart so I got past step 5. Now Step 6 I found two folders "Hewlett-Packard" and "HP"  - the "HP" file would not delete. Said:

The action can't be completed because the folder of file is open in another program. Close the folder or file and try again.

I have deleted the spooler and reopened via a Youtube that I found.

And again, printer is disconnected and off.

I'm still at this but any help you could give me would be great!!

Thanks Dvortex,

Pam

Since I couldn't delete the "HP" folder in step 6 (but successfully deleted the folder "Hewlett-packard" ) I went ahead with step 7 anyway. At the end of the installation it said that the Printer could not connect to the computer wirelessly.

Should I give up? Should I go back to step 6 and do something to delete that "HP" folder or is that really relavent? Is this printer just too outdated to connect to Win 10?

After all the hours I have spent on this I should have just gone out and bought another one that works on Win 10.

Any more help?

Thanks,

Pam

Hi @PamD

Thank you for posting back.

I am the The_Fossette. It looks like you were interacting with @Dvortex, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.

I see you are unable to install the printer software on one of the computers running on Windows 10. I will be happy to help. Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue and providing the steps tried in such good detail.

Recommend you to uninstall the printer again from Programs and features (Control Panel)

Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it.

Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.

Click on print server properties.

You will get a popup, click on the driver's tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.

Restart the PC.

Update the firmware on the printer using the control panel on the printer. (Will require the printer to be connected to your wireless network.)

Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,

Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.

It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).

Restart the PC again.

Download the latest full feature driver from www.hp.com/drivers and install it on the computer.

If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.

Let me know if this helped.

Take care.

Cheers!
