Well, it seems like every 2 to 3 years my HP printer has to be replaced.   This printer was installed in 2014 and last week it stopped working.

The power light is on, the LED above the USB port is on and there is a glow on the display panel but no display of the choices.  If I turn off the printer using the power button, then the printer does not turn on.  I have to unplug the power cable and let it set for a few minutes to turn on.  I tried the fixes shown on other forums but they did not work.

When I discovered the issue, I was replacing the black ink cartridge.  I opened the panel and the cartridges did not move to the changing position.  The bad thing is I purchased a two pack of HP ink from Sam's Club, opened it and then the issue showed up.  This is the second time,  I have had an HP printer fail after spending the money to but replacement ink.

Replacing a printer every 2 to 3 years that is lightly used is frustrating.   I have not called customer support because the last few times (3 years ago plus) it was frustrating,

I have been looking at replacement AIO printers from HP and others.  All seem to have very mixed reviews by consumers.

Any help on a fix would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help.

As I understand you are having issues with the printer not powering on. Don't worry I'll try my best to help you with this issue,

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

How frequently do you use this printer?

Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges?

Is the printer connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector?

Let's try these steps here:

Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to update the firmware, using this link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJP8620_R1640B_updated.exe If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link
