Thanks, I called but the person hopped on my PC w/remote & said sorry they couldn't help me.

I called again and asked to speak with a supervisor and I did speak with a manager on the floor who said that unfortunately there wasn't anyone able to look into my issue at the present moment.

He told me to look up my issue on the User Guide available for download.

It looks like HP support is not what it used to be.  The printer will be going back.

Thanks for your time.

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system?  Are there any error messages on the printer or computer screen?

Look in the Advanced setting of the driver and set the "Print in grayscale" to Off to enable color printing.

Dear Sir,

This thread statrted with this proble, i am copying the same. exactly same model, same problem. last answer to his problem is "it may be a problem of the computer", i think he returned the printer to HP.

"I was printing fine, then all of a sudden, the option to choose black and white is missing.  It only prints in color.  I just bought a Officejet 4620.  How did it revert to this setting?  How do I reset so that I can choose "Properties" and see the option to print color or black and white?  It disappeared?

i am using windows 8.1

Thanks

There are two different Windows 8.1 drivers, depending on whether you install them from the driver available in Windows 8 or from the HP download.  The 4620 class driver available in Windows 8 is shown on the left below, the HP driver is shown on the right.  While one does not have the color or black&white selection, both have an "Advanced" button with this available.  In each case there is an option for "off"  which prints in color, "high quality grayscale" which uses color and black to print grayscale, and "black ink only"  which will use the black cartridge.
