Laser Jet Pro M402dn
Microsoft Windows XP

Prior to buying this new printer I had an HP LaserJet 1600 color printer connected to a Desktop Windows XP computer which was connected to a router

I also had a netbook Windows XP computer that was wireless.

I could print from either computer with this confirguration.

My HP LaserJet 1600 was replaced with an HP LaserJet Pro M402dn, and my Windows XP desktop was replaced with a new Windows 7 desktop

I kept the Windows XP netbook

I can now print from the Windows 7 desktop

I can not print from the Window XP netbook.

When looking for the printer from the netbook, the netbook doesn't find it

I don't know what I did wrong.  Any suggestions would be apprecaiated.  Thank you.

Jim

You have 2 issues you need to resolve. First can the netbook see the windows 7 computer since if it can not then there is no way for it to see the printer which is attached I assume via usb. Second even if you get the netbook to see the windows 7 computer you will have a driver issue where you will need to "trick" the netbook. You need to share the printer on the windows 7 computer and then see if the netbook can see the printer. It will fail to load as the driver will be an issue, but if you can see the printer then report back with instructions on how to load on the netbook. All of this said if you have a router why don't you connect the printer to the router adn then use the ip address of the printer to connect to both the windows 7 and the xp netbook.
