Entering ipconfig in the cmd window gives me something called ipv4 address, ipv6 adress, and subnet mask, but I don't see anything close to the ip address my printer gives me.  Sorry I'm being so dense.  I appreciate your help.

What is the ipv4 address?

I've looked at it closely.  It def. starts with 72.

Can you describe your internet hardware setup? router name, computer model name & #

72 is not a private network range, possible starting IP ranges 192. 172. or 10.

The router is a D-Link DIR-835.  The computer is a refurbished Dell Intel core i5.  Where do I find the rest of the information?

HP Recommended

Do you know the IP of your router?

How is the Dell connected? WiFi or Ethernet

I don't know the ip of the router, and I can't seem to log on to the router to find out.  I used to know how to do that.  The computer is connected with an ethernet cable.

HP Recommended

The default IP for your router is 192.168.0.1, if you can not acccess it then you while need to reset it.

The computer is connected to the router thru the ethernet cable?
