HP Office Jet 4635
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I changed both cartridges with HP original new cartridges and I keep getting a tricolor cartridge error.  I removed the cartridge and cleaned it with a clean coffee filter.  I also disconnected the power and cleaned the contacts on the printer. No GO.  I have done this several times.  BOth the black and the tricolor have plenty of ink in them.  I do not know what to do to correct this error and be able to print.

I removed both old cartridges and put in on e new one at a time.  HELP!

Hi @PLE12,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips, Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I understand you are getting a print cartridge error message on your HP OfficeJet 4635 printer. I'll be really glad to help you with this,

Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

* With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

* Remove USB cable, if present.

* Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

* Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

* Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

* Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

Make sure that the cartridges are compatible

Remove, inspect, and then reseat the cartridges

Clean the electrical contacts
