Printer constantly states that ink cartridge must be replaced - ?????  Has to be **bleep** as I have tried two (2) different 61 Color cartridges one from the store and one from work - BOTH BRAND NEW CARTRIDGE; bought from different (But HP Brand) stores so I know I could not have gotten a bad lot through a store or something.

EVERY F##()*$ time something important comes up and I NEED something (HP BRAND) some crap such as this happens.

I am done with HP - from now on I'll buy another brand and hopefully I'll get better results.

I know that HP and most of the other Printer manufactures make their money on the ink they sell, NOT the printer, or they would not have them priced so low to begin with.

So long HP - tired of evertime a warranty expires, a major "Hands on Repair" or something with more and more money involved happens, EVERY time.

Believe it or not most of us are very deligent computer users and research quite in depth what equipment and software to purchase to do the job we need done, but every time something like this happpens.

I read where one user simply ask, "If a Cartidge doesn't work, can I tak it back?"

Sorry ass tech simply stated, "I don't know, can you?"  Totally uncalled for.

Later, MUCH later.

Hi! @KentuckyMarine, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand that you keep getting error ink cartridge must be replaced on your printer.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Did you make changes to your printer?

Please try the steps recommended below.

Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge:

Gather the following materials.
Dry foam rubber swabs, lint-free cloth, or any soft material that does not come apart or leave fibers (coffee filters work well)
Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might contain contaminants that can damage the cartridges)
Do not use platen cleaners or alcohol to clean the cartridge contacts. These can damage the cartridge or the printer.
Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
Locate the slots on the left and right sides of the printer.
Slide your fingers into the two slots, and then gently lift up to open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the cartridge access area. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.
Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
You must disconnect the power cord before reaching inside the printer to avoid the risk of injuries or electric shock.
Disconnect the USB cable, if the printer is connected to your computer with a USB connection.
To release the cartridge, lift the lid on the cartridge slot, and then gently push the lid back until it stops.
Pull up on the cartridge to remove it from the slot.
Do not remove both cartridges at the same time. Remove and clean each cartridge separately. Do not leave a cartridge outside the printer for more than 30 minutes.
Hold the cartridge by its sides.
Inspect the cartridge contacts for ink and debris buildup.
Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
Lightly moisten a foam-rubber swab or lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess water from it.
Clean only the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge, and then allow the cartridge to dry for about 10 minutes.

Refer this article to further troubleshoot ink cartridge issues.

I'll watch your reply!

Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂
