HP Office Jet Pro 8610
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Printer and all functions work fine.  However lately I have been sending a doc to print that just sits in the queue.  When I look at the printer by clicking the tray icon I sde it is offline.  So I power the printer off and back on to get it back on the network.

I really don't have any options for changing my home network, and hope there is some printer setting that will prevent it going offline like this, or some quicker way to get it to go online without powering off and back on.

Dotting "I's" and crossing "T's" per first reply:

     Printer Model -

           HP Officejet 8610

     Detailed Problem Description -

Printer drops to Offline mode with no warning.

New print job sits in queue showing printer is offline.

Have to power off and on, which results in print job resuming.

Operating System of computer (including service pack revision) -

           Windows 8.1

Connection Method - USB, Hardwired LAN, Wireless? -

Wireless, same problem whether DHCP or Static 192.168.0.253

Make and model of router and modem? -

           Brighthouse Cable Modem/Router:  Arris, H/W version 6, Firmware 8.0.120

Error messages - on printer screen and/or computer, any blinking light patterns?

           None

If wireless, when the problem occurs, what is status of Blue Wireless light on printer, on, off or blinking? -

           ON

I just finished a chat session with Tech Support.  Although I had set my router to reserve 192.168.0.253 for the printer, and the printer indeed connected to that address, the printer itself did not have that in its internal configuration.  Going to http://192.168.0.253 opens a setup screen where the tech entered that static IP.  He says this will fix the problem.

Okay ... It turns out the previous reply from was not the solution after all.  In fact, today, nothing I tried would take the printer out of offline status until I worked my way down to step 10 of the following link today:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-Pro-8610-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/5367603/model/...

If you get this far, don't forget to also remove your printer entirely from control panel Devices and Printers and reboot before reinstalling the software, which in my case was "OJ8610_198.exe".

It still remains to be seen whether I run into the Offline problem again.
