I installed the latest Windows 8 software/drivers from HP for my Envy 110 Printer on my new Acer laptop and the printer icon in Control Panel/Devices and Printers turned into a folder upon my first reboot. Everything works fine with the printer just wish the icon looked like a printer. I removed and reinstalled the software after deleting all temporary files etc and it still does the same thing. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Hi,
First try following the document below and check if that may help, the same should apply for Windows 8:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01996838
Additionally you may try to open the Control Panel and search for "Device".
Under Devices and Printers select "Change device installation settings".
Select "Yes, do this automatically" and save the changes.
Allow several minutes and check for any difference.
If the same persists you may manually replace the icon by clicking the Windows key + R simultanly, the Run dialog appears.
Type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Device Stage\Device
Look within the subfolders for the Envy 110 folder (the files inside should contain the printer model).
Paste the attached icon below to that folder to manually replace its icon.
Hope that helps,
Shlomi

Thank you! The first solution did not apply as I don't have a usb printer. I performed the second solution and it did not work. I performed the third solution and pasted the pic into the folder, which by the way had the same icon already there, rebooted and it was fixed. Thanks again!
