I have two computers networked to my HP printer via WIFI. The printer prints files sent to it from one of the computers fine. Files sent from the other, an hp laptop, create a "printer in error state" message and files stay in the print que. The printer says it is connected to the wifi, as does the laptop. I have tried unplugging the printer with it on, then pressing the start button, then repulgging to no avail. I have also rebooted the laptop and the printer. several times. Troubleshooting can find no problem with the printer. Next steps?

Thank you for joining the HP Support Community

This could be a driver issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you please help me with the exact model name or the product number of the printer and the operating system of the computer to assist you better.

Keep me posted.

Have a great day!

Cheers:)

You need to look at this closer.  I service many companies and I have started to get the same call.  I am assuming it is a Windows update that caused the issue, and shutting down both computer and printer is not a practical solution as it happens multiple times a day.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP.

They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number.

Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact.

Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

How do I fix "printer in error state?  Deleting printer doesn't seem no make any sense.

@runner24,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

What is the product number of your HP Printer? Use this link to find it:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824  (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

Do you get this error message on the printer screen or on the computer screen?

Are you able to make a copy from the printer?

Let me know how it goes for further assistance!

Cheers 🙂
