Officejet 6700
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Have a HP Officejet 6700. Was not used for 1 year and catridges were removed. Will it stil be operational?

Hi,

This is depending on how did you store ink and printer itself therefore very hard to say. All you can do now is to take a puch: put inks back  (if they were not dry out) and run thru few cleaning cycles or use new inks (compare cost with a new printer).

Regards.

Likely the printer will not work after a year with the cartridges removed.  The Officejet 6700 has a permanent printhead and separate ink supplies. By removing the ink cartridges there is a path for the printhead to dry out, this can be very difficult to recover.

It may be possible to recover the printhead, but I would not have a lot of hope.  Put the cartridges back in the printer and let the printer sit overnight powered on.  The next day try running a series of printhead cleaning cycles from the front panel, then print a test page.  Does the printer print at all?  The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help.  Note the warning in Step 4 (too late for your case, but keep in mind for the future):

I did have an Officejet Pro 8600 Plus that I bought as a backup.  I tried it out, verified that things were working properly, then put it in storage (with the cartridges installed) for just over a year.  I was surprised when putting the printer back in service that it printed a nozzle pattern completely without any problems and without any manual cleaning cycles required.
