HP Officejet 4620

I've been printing just fine until yesterday.  I tried to print an email attachment and it seems the printing is skipping lines.  I just tried to print on labels and the top of the letter sometimes show up, sometimes nothing shows up.  It's almost as  if the print isn't making it to the paper...if that makes sense.  I printed a test page and for some strange reason it came out just fine, but when I try to print the labels again, I get the same results as before.  I tried to scan and print and the printed copy had only partial letters again.  This is being done in black, no color.  Please excuse my lack of technical terms, technology isn't my thing.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Officejet 4620 e-All-in-One Printer and it prints partial letters and sometimes nothing shows up. The issue persists while printing labels. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • When was the last time the printer printed fine?
  • What is the operating system you're using?
  • Does this happen while printing from a particular application or no matter which application you use?
  • Is the printer able to make a photocopy with any issues?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • If you're using Windows then please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This software will detect and fix any printer drivers related issues.

Please feel free to reply and I will assist you further. Take care! 🙂

My printer worked just fine 2 weeks ago while printing labels.  The copy function works, but the printing does not.  The same problem persists as when I just want to print a file.  I tried your recommendation of the Print Doctor and ran the 3 tests...printed a test page, printed after "clean printheads" and printed after "align printheads"  The same problem persists.  A line prints fine and the next only has the top or bottom portion of the letters/numbers.  Please advise.

Thanks.

You're most welcome and thanks for the information. 🙂

Are you sure the photocopies are good? If the copy works fine and the lines do not skip then it is a printer driver issue. Had it been an issue while copying too then we could have checked the hardware.

I suggest you to uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them using the below steps:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.

Now please download and install the printer drivers from this link: www.123.hp.com (I could not give you the specific driver because I do not know your operating system yet).

Hope this information helps. Please keep me posted for any further help. 🙂
