We recently purchased an HP ENVY 5530 all in one printer. (We are working with Windows 8.)  It worked fine for a few weeks, then it started to cancel print jobs over 2-3 pages long in the middle of the print job. A bing sounds and an error message pops up in the right hand corner of the screen to tell me that the printer can not complete the print job. When printing a docutment from a Word program I can side step this issue by selecting specific pages to print. However this is time consuming. Secondly, when I want to print multiple copies of one page, the printer stops after about 2-3 sometimes 4 copies, sends an error message and stops printing. Again, I can side step this issue and print things in smaller batches, but again, frustrating and time consuming. (did I mention this was a new printer?) Lastly, when I try to print something from the internet that is NOT a word document, the printer stops printing after a few pages, sends an error message. I CAN NOT side step this issue as the print menu that is called up when on internet type sites do not have a page select option. For example, if I need to print out a 6 page document the printer will print backwards starting at 6, 5,4 and stop. I can NEVER get to page one. I have spoken to the HP tech line on several occasions. An HP technition tried to access our computer to trouble shoot the issue, but could not get through. HP sent us another printer, it has been hooked up and the same issue is occuring. We downloaded the HP Help program to diagnois any issues, and it did NOT detect any problems. We are extreamly frustrated, we are blowing through ink and paper. Please help.  We are also on the HP Instant Ink program so we are constantly going over our allotted page amount to reprint 1/2 printed pages and test pages and we are  being charged for all the additional pages we print. We would appreciate your help. Thank you, Madishell

Hi there Madishell, Welcome to the forumsSmiley Happy

I am sorry to read about the issues you are having with your new Envy 5530. I can see that printing will intermittently quit on you. I am unsure if this is a printer hardware problem or more of a software and driver problem, so I am going to give you some suggestions and hopefully correct the issue for you.

First lets test out the hardware (printer) without using the computer to see if the issue is within the printer itself.

  • Make a few copies to see if the copies will quit on you or show you an error message.

If the copies are quitting or stalling, the issue could be the printer. In that case, I recommend checking for a firmware update here: Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates.

Also, Power Reset the Printer and when you plug the printer back in, make sure it is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding all power bars, surge protectors, extension cords, etc. This has worked many times before, believe it or not!

If the copies are now performing as they should and the printing is still quitting, here are some software troubleshooting steps to try:

1. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor which will search and fix common printing and scanning problems.

(If the issue still persists, move on to uninstalling and reinstalling the printer)

2. Uninstalling the Printer Software

3. Restart your computer

4. Reinstall the printer - HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers

I hope this helps, if you need any more help please let me know!

Take care,

Ironically, this has happened to me just trying to print this two-page explanation!  I've been having the exact same trouble MadasHell has described.   It's frustrating that the error message doesn't stay up on the screen long enough for me to really "capture" what it's saying.  (Other than I KNOW the word "error" is there!)

Also, double-check this page

I suspected it was more of a wireless networking issue and wanted to see what had been said about that.  So, for now, we've moved our printer further away from the router (like a ROOM away versus the 3-5 feet that it says to do).  Ours had been MAYBE too close to the router (only 2 feet).

Also, our printer was NOT plugged directly into the wall and was in a strip.  Now it's plugged directly into the wall.  The first test print was able to give me 6 pages, trouble-free.

Note:  I realize we've not really determined which thing fixed it -- plugging into the wall or getting it further away from the router.  However, right now just getting my print jobs out is more important that gnat's a**ing it.

I have the same problem and same error message under Windows 8.1 pro 64bit running on a Asus notebook with i7 processor.

The printer stop printing after 5-6 pages, I can only send groups of 4-5 pages but on long documents this is very frustrating.

I have the same problem under differents networks, at home with a WiFi connected Epson WF7515 printer, at work wit cabled HP X476dw printer, with a cabled Xerox printer and with a HP T520 plotter (the print still interrupts a single A0 page).

This means the problem is not the printer but is the operating system.

I attempted to replace the drivers, without results.

Same printers under Windows 7 or XP works correctly at home and at work.

Is very strange Microsoft has not yet solved this... I'm thinking to downgrade the operating system to WIndows 7, but this needs much time to reinstall all applications and move documents.
