HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Our HP office jet printer has completely stopped functioning.  I came in to an error message about the printhead.  I have run all diagnostics from my PC to the printer but am unable to run the printhead recovery because the screen freezes.  So the steps I have taken are :

Unplugged printer from power source

plugged back in

when the screen finally comes on the error message appears " The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed.  Error Code: 0xc6fd0503"

I removed the ink cartridges and repeated the top 2 steps with no help.

So i repeat steps one and two then hit the curved back arrow 4 times to get to the printhead recovery but the screen stops responding and I am stuck.

The power button will not turn the unit on or off during this time.  I contacted HP who wants to charge me $$$ to help resolve the issue.  We are a non profit organization who doesn't have the funding to pay for a printer we have only had a little over a year.  Any help is so appreciated.

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are getting printhead missing error message on HP Officejet pro x476dw printer. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

Reset the printer.

  • Unplug the printer power cable when it is turned on.
  • Press and hold the [power button for 60secs.
  • Connect the power cable to printer and directly to the wall outlet.
  • Turn on the printer.

Let me know how to it goes.

Cheers.
