Is there a solution to this problem I have removed cartridges and tried a reset before replacing cartridges etc. but this has not solved my problem

The printer is 2years old and never had a problem until this one suddenly appeared

Following because I had the same issue this morning.  I followed the troubleshooting steps with no positive outcome.  I have the 8600 + printer, never had issue til today.  I even checked to makesure firmware was up to date.  It says it is, mine runs with Mac computer.

Nice to know I am not on my own Hopefully someone will provide a solution shortly

Mine shows ink levels but then also says that Printhead is Missing-CMYK so has to be a software/firmware issue that just updated.  I mean how can it be working one day then not the next? and show the ink levels but yet say the printhead that contains the ink is misssing.  Has to be software.  Now how to reload correct software??? where to get correct software?  I don't want to go buy another printer.

Well I tried deleting the printer from my computer and reinstalling it.  No luck.  I tried taking ink cartridges out and put in old depleted ones.  It recognized they were depleted so I put the good ones back in.  It recognized they were good but still says printhead error.  I don't know what to do now to resolve this issue.
