HP Envy 5660 eprint
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi; I have been printing photos that are saved in my computer. I have tried several settings and cant seem to get the photos to fill the whole 4x6 photo paper. In printer settings i used portrait, borderless print  and fill page. Each print comes out with about an inch or more of white border at the bottom. If i try to set the paper size in the computer app to 4x6 it tells me that image will not fit on paper size selected. I have even tried the other paper sizes up to 8x10 in the paper settings and get the same message. But if i just select fill page it prints but i still have the white border at the bottom of the print. I cant figure out what i am doing wrong. Thank-you.

Hello, @Bullmule – Greetings!

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a dynamite location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others 🙂

I see by your post that you are trying to print borderless. I did some digging on this issue and found that the issue was resolved in some cases after reinstalling the basic drivers.

Try the steps below:

Once the drivers are installed open the picture that you want to print using the "Windows photo viewer" app and try printing borderless. (Go to the image source, right-click on the picture and select "Open with" and choose Windows photo viewer from the list).

If the issue persists, follow the steps mentioned below and check:

  • Go to control panel – Devices and printers
  • Right-click on Envy 5660 and select “Printing preferences” option.
  • Go to “Paper/Quality” / “Layout” tab and select “Advanced tab”
  • Look for an option which says “Borderless printing” and make sure it’s turned “On”
  • Now go to the image you want to print, open the image with “Windows photo viewer” and make sure the correct settings are selected and then try to print.

PS: Borderless option is not supported while you are duplex printing (both the sides of the paper).

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂

Thank you for your response. I have uninstalled the drivers , restarted my computer and re-installed the drivers. I will have to pick up more photo paper tomorrow to see if it worked.

Hi; I have uninstalled the drivers, did a restart and re-installed the drivers. I went to the control panel and clicked on the printer and went to preferences to make sure that borderless was on and it was. Paper was set to HP photo 4x6, portrait and i tried different settings, fill page, shrink to fit etc. and printed off 3 copies from the windows photo viewer and also the remote app. They all came out exactly the same with about a 2 inch white border at the bottom. They are borderless at the top and sides. This is a photo printed from Onedrive if that makes a difference. Maybe this is normal but i was assuming that the photo should cover the 4x6 photo paper.https://1drv.ms/i/s!AtVVssI4OG3BpCNcbUMCbtJiEI4b

I tried to post the photo but it is 1660K and the limit is 1000K . I dont know if the above link will work or not. Thanks.

@Bullmule

Thanks for the reply.

I understand that you are unable to print border less.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

  • Adjust the print settings, and then print the photo.
  • Right-click the photo that you want to print, and then click Print, or click Open with, click Windows Photo Viewer, and then click Print.
  • From the drop-down menus above the photo, select your printer, paper size, and print quality. For the Paper type select HP Photo Papers, and then click Options....
  • In the Print Settings window, click Printer Properties....
  • For borderless photos, click the Printing Shortcut tab, click Photo Printing-Borderless, and then click the Paper/Quality tab.
  • On the Paper/Quality tab, select Photo Tray from the Paper Source drop-down menu, and then click Advanced.
  • In the Advanced Options window, select 10×15cm/4×6in. in the Paper Size drop-down menu, and then click OK.
  • In the Document Properties window, click OK.
  • In the Print Pictures window, click Print.
  • After printing, remove unused photo paper from the paper tray. Store the photo paper so it does not start to curl. Curling paper could reduce the quality of your printout.

Click here and follow the steps mentioned under printing photos with windows photo viewer in the document.

Let me know how it goes.

I hope it helps and if you feel I have answered your question and concerns,

Please mark this post as a solution accepted and Kudos would also be appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi; I found something really strange as i followed your instructions in your above reply it is exactly the steps i was following before with no results but i was getting a completely different set of prompts but with the exact same settings. I was using the onedrive app that i store my photos in and when i would click print the settings would come up using the photo viewer to open with. There are other choices but is the one windows recomends. After setting all of the settings i got the same results that i had gotten before, with the 2 inch white border at the bottom. The settings were, portrait, 4x6 HP photo paper, fill page and borderless on. I wondered what would happen if i tried to print the photo outside of the Onedrive app, same result.  I went to file explorer and opened Onedrive there, selected the photo, and clicked print. There was no alternate choice to open with to print from so it must be pre-selected by Windows 10 as photo viewer. The prompts came up as you described and with the same settings it printed the full 4x6 photo. So now i know i cant print from the one drive app and will have to open One Drive in file explorer. I tried 3 different photos and they all worked from file explorer and all 3 had the white border from the One Drive app. I am including a link to one of the photos. The one on the left is printed from the One Drive app with a white border and the one on the right is from file explorer that printed full size.https://1drv.ms/i/s!AtVVssI4OG3BpCdPsAVq0hc9X6gf
