HP OfficeJet 4652
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had my printer for about 6 months and it has only been used occasionally. Recently it started printing faint broken black lines here and there, no real pattern but it's getting worse the more I print. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it, thinking if there was some corrupted file it would be corrected. It didn't help. Now, it is printing all throughout the page. I can't get a clean document! I also got a new computer 4 months ago running Windows 10. This printing issue wasn't happening before then. That may not be a factor. I'm stumped. I hope someone knows how to correct this! Thanks.

Print a quality report as shown below.  Does the test page show the lines?  If so the computer is not involved, as the test print is done entirely by the printer.  Are the lines distinct, and show up in white areas of the page?  If so the likely cause is a defective cartridge.  If the lines appear to be smears out of areas that should be printed in black then cleaning the cartridge as shown in step 12 of the document here may resolve the issue.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report from the printer control panel, then evaluate the results.
  1. Make sure to load the input tray with plain, white paper.
  2. On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.
  3. Touch Tools.
  4. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Print Quality Report.
A Print Quality Diagnostic report prints.
