Printed an email (**bleep**) from my phone to my HP 3831 printer, only half the page printed. Phone is a Moto G8, Android 11, HP Print Service Plugin and HP Smart installed. Printed page 2 of the email from the 3 dots at the top right of the screen, it found the printer OK, printed, but the bottom half of the page was blank. I then printed the same page from a windows 10 PC, printed as normal. Same thing happened a couple of weeks ago. Checked for printer updates via HP Smart on PC, tells me no updates available. Any suggestions welcome.

Hi @Martinbx,
I'd like to help!
I understand you are facing print quality when printing from android.
To assist better -
What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application?
Try the below suggestions-
1)Uninstall HP Smart
2)Install all the available Windows updates
If it is been a while since you updated your Windows, that is the main reason why Windows says your HP printer driver is unavailable. Here are the steps how to do a Windows Update to install all accessible operating system update.
If you are accessing Windows 10, then these steps are for you.
- Hit the Start menu and write an update. After that, click on the “Check for updates” option.
- Tap on the “Check for updates” option.
- After clicking on that option, Windows will install the updates automatically.
- When Windows completes all its updates, start your computer again and attempt to print a file to check if your printer works.
3)Reinstall HP Smart
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi - thanks for the response, the problem occurs when printing from the G Mail app on my android phone, a Moto G8, Android 11. I haven't tried yet printing from other apps on the phone. Printing from my win 10 laptop seems to work ok, except after windows updates when I usually have to remove the printer and reinstall it before it will work. I keep windows updated, and last week it included a PC system update.
I've uninstalled HP Smart from PC, checked windows update - was up to date - reinstalled HP Smart from Microsoft Store, test page printed OK.
Regarding the print quality issues when printing from the phone, the top half of the page that prints is fine. I just tried printing the page that gave grief last week on the phone and it printed the whole page this time, although it printed it slowly.
Maybe the problems are resolved.
