How do you print pictures on 4x6 HP Photopaper using the HP8620 printer? I can't believe there are no instructions in the 30 language manual the comes with it. I've loaded the paper with the shiney side down, the paper feeds, but I get "Paper type Mismatch" error.

Right now I'm trying to print with Picasa. I had no problem on my HP C309g printer.

Thank you in advance. I'm about to take this thing back!

Good news,  you can "add" a form for the 4X6 or 4X6.5 (tabbed) paper size.

The basic instructions are already available for the printer, though not where you'd expect:

Create Custom Paper Sizes in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X

I created a new 4X6.5in form so I could use my 4X6 inch tabbed photo  paper in my new printer.   The printer was throwing "paper mismatch" errors at the 4X6 form.

The examples to create the form are included in this document:

Man, you are one cool right on dude!

This worked great for me. However, when using the tabbed paper, and with the form set at 4x6.5, it printed on the whole page including the tab. I just changed the size to 6 and it works fine. I can select borderless, or with white borders and it works great. The quality isn't nearly as good as my old C309g, but passable. I mainly use it for printing/scanning papers anyway.

Whoever reads this just make sure you put the photo paper with shiney side down with the arrow pointing towards the printer.

You are a lifesaver, man. I don't know why HP didn't already include this option. Oh well. ...

You are welcome.

Yeah, I could not understand the "paper mismatch" with that tabbed bit.  I had to add the 6.5in on my form to get it to work.   I may check on that again sometime -- it doesn't make sense; the "tab" is supposed to be invisible to the form.

Happy Printing!
