Does anyone know what the print settings are on HP Officejet 7610 to print solid black on a transparency?

The page here lists HP 3834a transparency media as compatible with all HP inkjet models. I suspect the reason it is not in the driver settings is due to most folks moving to digital projectors rather than using transparency media.
I would not expect any inkjet transparency media to cause any warranty issues.

Hmm... Normally I would have suggested to select HP Premium Transparency media in the driver but I see the Offciejet 7610 driver does not include a media option for that. There are a few options:
Try selecting HP Trifold Brochure paper, Matte as the paper type and select Best quality.
If the above does not give adequate results you could use an alternative driver. The Deskjet 990c driver does include a setting for transparency media. You could add an additional printer, using the Deskjet 990c driver and on the same port. In Windows 7 for example do the following:
- Click Start, Devices and Printers, right click on the Officejet 7610 and select Printer Properties, Ports. Note which port is being used, this will be used later.
- Install the Deskjet 990c driver as follows: from the Devices and Printers folder click Add a Printer, local printer, use an existing port, select the port found above, Next. Now click on Windows Update in the lower right and wait (perhaps a few minutes) for the page to refresh. Once the list refreshes seelct HP for the manufacturer (not Hewlett-Packard), then select HP Deskjet 990c, Next, (replace the current driver if that is an option, Next), select a name like Officejet Transparency for the printer name, Next, Next, print a test page (make sure plain paper is loaded to avoid waste), Next, Finish.
- Now right click on the Officejet Transparency printer and select Printing Preferences, make the appropriate selections for orientation, Apply, click the Paper/Quality tab, select HP Transparency media and select Best mode, Apply, OK.
You can now print to either the HP Officejet 7610 or the Officejet Transparency printer. Note the Deskjet 990 driver does not support the larger media sizes of the Officejet 7610. If you need to print large transparencies the Deskjet 9800 driver could be installed instead of the Deskjet 990c driver.

I would suggest Best mode rather than Maximum DPI (if you are using the 9800 driver).

Hi Bob,
Thank you for your answers. I recently purchased a new HP Officejet 7612 and found no transparency media listed so I used your suggested media selection, HP Tri-fold Brochure paper, Matte. I used Apollo, clear, VUF1000, 8-1/2 x 11, Overhead Projector, transparency film. Previous printer was a HP OfficeJet 7500A but print head needed to be replaced after three years.
Do you know if HP makes a transparency film? I am concerned about the warranty being void if media is not shown as a choice?
Kind regards,
GG_solla
