OfficeJet Pro 8600
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

 Hello,

Every time I try to print photos from my Mac to my officejet pro they're too yellow/warm.  I've calibrated my monitor with a Spyder Elite 4.  Yes I know there's a difference between reflected and projected light but this yellowing is sigificant, people aren't 'tanned' looking - they're pushing into the jaundiced range.. 😞

Is there a way to specificy a different ICC when printing on a Mac?  I'm trying to print from Lightroom CC edition if that's of any importance.

Thanks.

Hello,

Finally figured out my problem.  My issue is that my monitor, while calibrated, wasn't accurately reflecting the white balance of the photo.  So while the photo looked GREAT on my screen, it was skewed 'warm' which showed up in printing.

Readjusting white balance resolves the issue.

@dao1138, Welcome back to the forums!

If you find that all programs print out with "Print Quality" issues, try the steps in this guide: Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer Series

If the yellow printed photos occur only from one program you print from, I'd suggest contacting Adobe Support for the issues you are facing with specifying different ICC on your Mac.

Not a single one of the suggestions in that guide have anything to do with color profile matching (which is the issue I'm runnning into). Even then I've done or am doing everythine the guide suggests short of replacing print heads (which are not at issue).

I'll pull the photo into a JPEG and print it from the back Preview program.  When THAT still shows a yellow-hued image I'll come back and let you know it's not Lightroom or Adobe - something is up with your color matching profiles.  BTW this isn't the first report you've had on 8600 and yellow tint:

I've tried those suggestions already but so far no luck.

Hi there dao1138,

I found a couple of support documents regarding ICC, but I'm not sure how informative you will find them:

  1. HP Printers - Advanced Color Management for HP Next-Generation Inkjet Printing Products
  2. HP Printers - Using ICC Profiles for Color Photos in Adobe Photoshop

If the information doesn't help, and Adobe doesn't hold a solution, you can contact our phone support for your repair options at our contact info I posted in my last message.

I hope this gets resolved for you:)
