I am trying to print reduced size pdf's from Acrobat DC to a HP Designjet T730.
The pdf is A0 paper size and printing from Windows 7 64-bit. The T730 is setup with a 36" wide roll of paper. I can print a full size A0 with no problem. I want to print two A0 pages at a 50% reduced size so that I can have the two printed side by side and save paper. A0 paper is about 46.8" x 33.1" so at 50% each page is 23.4" x 16.5" and they should print side by side on the roll of paper.
Right now, if I print at a 50% size I get the pdf printed at 50% size on the cetnre of an A0 size of paper.
Any guidance on how to print this way would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Prepare a single document with both pages in the one PDF document.
1. Use software to combine sheets into one document
OR
2. Scan previously printed single sheets into computer and save into one PDF document
Open the document in Adobe Reader DC
Under Page Sizing and Handling > Click "Multiple" >
Select "pages per sheet" Custom (2 by 1)
Ensure Orientation is set to Landscape
Click Properties >
Tab Printing Shortcut >
Select your shortcut, either one of the "locked defaults" or a shortcut you previously created >
Tab Paper / Quality >
Select your Media type (kind of paper) >
Click Advanced >
Select the Paper Size from your list > OK (to close advanced) >
OK (to close Properties)

Thanks for the reply,
I've attached a file to show what my print box looks like after following your settings. My print box and tabs were named a little bit different so I hope I followed them correctly. The image preview does show two pages for the one sheet of A0 paper, however, it's not the orientation that I want. Seems to still waste a lot of paper.
I would like two pages side by side, with the short edge of each page touching the short edge of the paper. The second image shows very roughly what I would like to do.

Not sure how the software is reading this, it might be the Page Order -- switch to Horizontal and see what the Preview shows. (Give it a few seconds to shift the preview after you change the setting.)
This assumes an original "single page" of your document is "tall and skinny" (Portrait).
Placing two portrait shaped pages next to one another:
Page Order = Horizontal
Sheet Orientation = Landscape
To test this setup, I suggest you create a simple, "box shapes" on paper document (without lots of details), and set up to print on "smaller paper". Little boxes use less toner and the smaller size uses less paper. I have used this simple method to create templates for book fold, cards, and brochures; it takes a few minutes to create the "test documents" and then one or two tests to nail down the details.
Once you have it set up, create a custom shortcut to use with the Adobe Menu for this project.
Sorry to throw this back on you -- my Officejet Pro 8630 printer is a long ways from a plotter that uses roll paper. Smiling.

Switched to horizontal but still no go.
I also tried to make a custom paper size equal to A0 cut in half, but the properties custom size box will not let me enter in a width greater than the length. Keeps switching them. I'll try your box shape suggestion tomorrow as it's home time.
Thanks.
