Product: HP Officejet 6500

I just installed 4 new ink cartridges in my printer, color and black.  Black is not printing well at all.  There are no error messages and the ink level for black shows as full.  When I run a test page it prints in all color but no black other than the black rectangle at the end that shows each ink cartridge level...

The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help resolve black not printing on your Officejet 6500 printer.  Go through the steps in order.  Note that the black rectangles around the ink level indicators are actually printed with a mixture of black and color inks so they are visible even if black or one or more colors are not printing.
