I now have this problem.  Copying seems OK, but printing out documents in colour produces a bright yellow background on every sheet.  I am using Windows 10, 64-bit. This happens when printing from the Internet but also when printing from a word-processing program using colour print.  The only way to stop it is to set the printer to grayscale, but it remains a problem when you need to print out in colour.   Using Open Office Writer, I tried de-selecting  "page background" in the print dialogue box but this had no effect.  This printer was purchased fairly recently so it is not in need of cleaning and it has never printed out correctly, without this yellow background.  I am obviously using up large amounts of yellow toner because of it.

Could you advise how to address this issue?

Greetings @Ellis4

Welcome to HP Forums and thanks for the post.

I understand that you are getting a yellow background whenever you print in color.

Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own and using the workaround by using the grayscale printing.

Do you get the yellow background when you do a color copy?

Do you have the printer configured on multiple computers? If so, do you face the issue while printing from other computers as well?

Recommend you to reinstall the printer software after uninstalling it from your computer by following the procedure mentioned below.

Uninstall the printer from programs and features from the control panel. (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)

Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it.

Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.

Click on print server properties.

You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.

Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.

Restart the PC.

Once the PC is booted to the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,

Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.

It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files, ignore them).

If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.

Restart the PC again.

Download the latest full feature driver from www.hp.com/drivers and install it on the computer.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

Also, refer to this HP Article to improve the print quality.

Let me know if this helped.
