How to get my Officejet Pro 8600 to quit printing back to front? It's annoying when pages 2-3 are two-sided, but page 1 isn't. Back to front works well when printing checks, but reports, statments, etc need to be two-sided from page 1.

I found a link for you which has the solution for this issue:

Hi Neely1,

This Mac duplexing (two-sided printing) document might help (see the FAQ for printing with an automatic duplexer).

You might also need to adjust the settings in the program you're printing from.

I hope this helps!

Unfortunately, this did not resolve the issue. The issue is that page 1 is printed on a one-sided sheet, while pages 2-11 are all two-sided. Therefore, it appears that page 2 is blank in a multi-page document. I've had this printer for a while and this has just started happening in the last couple months. I haven't changed anything that I'm aware of.

I've also tried reversing the page order and that did not fix it. 😕

What application are you printing from?

If you are using MS Word you could investigate the First Page Special option.

I'm printing from Adobe AcrobatPro.

Hi Neely1,

I'm experimenting with AcrobatPro XI to see if I can duplicate your issue, or figure out how to adjust the settings. Unfortunately, I only have Windows 10 at the moment. But I'm hoping some of the settings are similar.

What I've noticed is that if you select "Booklet" for the 2-sided print settings, it prints the single page (like a cover page), but if you select "multiple," it gives the 2 pages per sheet option.

Two other possibilities might be updated firmware (latest update for your printer is from 4/18/2016) or software (HP Easy Start can check for software updates).

Both can be found on the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus Software and Driver Downloads page.

I'm also attaching a screenshot of the settings in Windows.

Please let me know if any of this helps.

I think you are misunderstanding me. I want my two-sided copies to start at Page 1: page 1 & page 2 are back-to-back, page 3-4 are back-to-back, and so forth.

Here is the problem: If I print a 3-page PDF right now, my printer sends out page 2-3 back-to-back and then page 1 (printed lastly) with a blank page on it's backside. This makes absolutely no sense. The correct way would be to print pages 1-2 on one sheet, followed by page 3 (with a blank page after 3).
