My printer has ink, but the black prints as it should except every other line is darker than normal. When the printing starts, the printer makes a strange noise like it is caught.

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are getting print quality issues and noisy operation on your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

  • Remove the black ink cartridge.
  • Check the print settings.
  • Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report.
  • Clean the ink cartridges.
  • Align the printer.

Click here for the document which you can refer.

To avoid the noisy operation,

  • Check if the carriage is jam.
  • Click here to clear any jams and restart the printer.

If the issue is resolved and you appreciate my help,

Please click the "Accept as Solution" button and the "Thumbs Up".

Let me know how you make out. Cheers!
