Problem scanning

HP Recommended
HP Photosmart 5520
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

All of a sudden, when I try to "Scan Document or Photo" I get message: "The HP Photosmart series was not found".

(I am still able to Print.)

PS..I am not sure if my Operating System is 32 or 64 bit.

@Karl22,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are unable to scan from your HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One Printer to your computer and you get a message that the printer was not found.

This issue could occur scanning software is not configured properly.

Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the links below depending on how the printer is connected to the computer:

1. USB Scanner Connection Error (Windows)

2. Network Scanner Connection Error (Windows)

Also, let us know how the printer is connected to the computer(USB or network).

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

Just as mysteriously as Scanning ability disappeared, it came back before I needed to try this.

However, many thanks, and if problem arises again I'll refer to this.

(BTW--Any idea why this happened?)
