Setup my new HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 and everything is working except the setup for Wifi. When entering the Wifi network password unable to finish entering. The password has 9 letter characters followed by four numbers without a space between the letters and the numbers. After typing in the letters I try to change to numbers but the Wizzard kicks me out of the process and I must start again. I can add a space beween the characters and the numbers but that does not solve my problem because I will have to change everyone's password to match the change. Any reason why I can't enter all the characters and numbers without a space between?

Hey there! @Willythewildcat, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand that you have a problem entering WIFI password on your new printer.
Please try the steps recommended below.
Connect the printer to your network with the Wireless Setup Wizard so the HP installer can find the printer during the installation.
From the home screen on the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Wireless icon.
Touch the Setup icon.
Touch Wireless Settings, and then touch Wireless Setup Wizard.
Touch the name of your network in the list of available networks, and then touch OK.
If the list does not contain your network name, touch Enter New Network Name, and then follow the on-screen instructions to enter your network name.
If prompted, type the WEP or WPA key (network password), and then touch Done.
A summary screen displays. Touch OK to return to the home screen.
If a connection error message displays, make sure you typed the uppercase (capital) and lowercase (small) letters for the network name and password exactly. Follow the prompts to type the information again.
Refer this document to troubleshoot wireless printer setup.
Let me know if this helps!
Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂

Thanks for your response to my issue. I have no trouble in the Wireless Wizard process. The issue is the entering in the current wireless password into the printer. The password is "password1024" I type temporary and attempt to enter the 1024 whick kicks me out of the Wizard. I have tried the same process but adding a space after the word "password" and then it will allow the "1024." I know this is a picky issue but I will have to change the wireless password on the router, and every other device that we have such as cell phones, computers etc. If this is know issue then I have no choice but to change everything.

@Willythewildcat, Thanks for the response.
Thanks for trying out the steps.
Please try the steps mentioned below.
First make sure your computer is connected to your network.
Connect your printer using USB cable to your Pc.
If your printer is not currently connected to your computer, connect the USB cable between the computer and the printer.
Make sure your HP printer software is installed on your computer.
Launch the Printer Software from the Start screen (using the icon for your printer model) or from the tile named for your printer.
Select (click or touch) Utilities on the top of the Printer Software screen
Select Printer Setup & Software
Select Convert a USB connected printer to Wireless
Select “Convert a USB connected printer to wireless” from Printer Setup & Software or from the Welcome Back screen from the CD.
Carefully follow the instructions on the software screens. If you see a software screen prompt instructing you to connect the USB cable and the cable is already connected, check the checkbox which says “the USB cable is already connected”, and then continue.
The software may be able to automatically retrieve your wireless settings, which includes your network name and wireless password. If the wireless settings cannot be retrieved, you will have to pick your network name from a list of detected networks in your area and manually input your wireless password.
At the end of the process, you will be instructed to remove the USB cable.
Hope this helps!
Happy Weekend! 🙂

I have a different problem: My wifi password contains an uppercase letter. The touch screen on my new OfficeJet 4655 does not offer uppercase, and it keeps telling me my password is invalid. How do I get around this?
OOPs! Please disregard. I found the Uppercase arrow. Sorry....
