HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g printer. It worked fine until I bought a new computer with Office 365 / Windows 10 64 bit.

Now when i want to print a series of documents, I am able to print the first one with no problem. Then I click "print" for the second one but it doesn't print. The job gets stuck in the print queue.  Then I receive a "print error" message on screen. Strangley, sometimes if I wait long enough the document does end up pinting, but I might have to wait for 10 or 15 minutes.

The only way i am able to print a series of documents at the moment is to print the first one, then remove the printer from its connection to the computer (which is wireless) which clears the block in the print queue, then add the printer again and print the second document. Then repeat this until I have printed everything. It is very slow.

I'd be grateful for advice.

Hello, @Wight24 - Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for reaching out to HP Forums! I’d like to help!

I understand that you are having issues while printing on your Officejet 8500 after updating your PC. Do not worry, I’m here to help 🙂

Does this issue specific to any one particular application like Office 365? Or does this happen while printing any type of documents like printing the PDF files or the other online documents? Let me know!

In any case, this looks like a driver issue on your PC. I would suggest a clean install to try and fix this issue. Here are the steps:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL31041/mp-110033-3/OJ_AIO_P8500_A909_Full_Win_WW_140_408-... to install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Let me know if that works!

Good luck 🙂
