At first: please excuse my English for I am not a native speaker.
I have the following problem:
I am unable to access My HP office jet 8600 plus (N911g) via AirPrint, IF (and only if) it is connected wired.
If the printer is connected wireless, I am able to find it via my iPhone most of the time. The problem is, the reception is very bad at the location where I put the printer, sometimes there are even random disconnects.
So I decided to connect it via LAN/Ethernet (wired). Now Scan/Print/Fax works from this printer works flawlessly in my ENTIRE network (1 mac (wireless), 2 windows-computers (wired) and 1 windows-notebook (wireless)), but my iPhone is now unable to find it via AirPrint.
Wired and wireless are NOT isolated. My Mac and notebook are able to share files with each other and are able to access the printer just as well as all devices connected wired, just NOT my iPhone (with latest iOS6 firmware btw).
I can even access the printer configuration web page with my iphone.
What could be the problem?
Thank you in advance!
PS: IPP and bonjour are both enabled.
PPS: All of the devices use the same subnet, gateway and dns servers. I tried static IPs as well as DHCP
EDIT: Big edit, I am sorry for I could solve the problem myself. If anyone is interested how I did it:
I not only had to assign the printer a static IP, that is UNUSED but also a static IP that is out of the range of the IPs that are assigned by DHCP. So for example if your DHCP ranges from 192.168.2.50 to 192.168.2.100, assigning the printer 192.168.2.70 will NOT work with AirPrint (even though it did with every other protocol), even if this IP is unused.
You have to take 192.168.2.40 or 192.168.2.110 for example!

It made AirPrint available for roughly 3 hours straight until the printer disappeared from the AirPrint menu again.
Disabling and enabling the bonjour service in the web menu or changing Bonjour-Priority from LPD to 9100 SOMETIMES makes the printer available for a few minutes...
But I definetly need a better solution

If you are having problems with Airprint, did you also set the static DNS when you set the static IP address? See this link for instructions on how to set the Preferred and Alternate DNS server.
It sounds like you may need a firmware update for your router. What is the name/model of your router? Answer that for me please so I can also confirm a few security settings within that router that may help you.

My router is called "Speedport W723V Type A", distributed by German Telecom (DTAG).
It already has the latest firmware, because they get updated automatically. But if you know specific setting that might help me, please let me know. Thank you 🙂

When I tried to research your router, I could not find an English website, however, the router needs to support multi-casting.
--How to Use Apple's AirPrint Over a Wireless Network-- This link will provde more information about what is not supported.
Try a network reset of your devices (turn off devices and printer and unplug router for ten seconds before powering back on) and make sure you have not set the printer to go to sleep. Channel 2, 6, or 11 are preferred, G-mode, and WPA2/AES are some other settings in the router to help the connection.
Print a Printer Status Report for me please and let me know the firmware version that prints off for line 7. Are you getting any other error messages or communication issues with other devices?

Alright, long story short: Got a wirless repeater, set the printer up to connect wireless, now everything works fine, including AirPrint.
Btw.: Even though it says it is not possible, it is actually possible to access the printer via WLAN and LAN (wired) simultaneosly.
Thanks anyway. I think this can be marked as solved
