HP Officejet 4632
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

When trying to print out a greeting card, the printer will not print on both sides of the paper. It prints perfecting on the 1st side, but not at all on the second side.

Also, the printer will not feed the card stock or photo paper threw to be printed.

Can you help me find the problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but that didn't seem to work.

Hi @djwright,

Welcome to the HP community.  A Good day to you. 🙂 I read the post regarding duplex printing on card stocks. It will be a delight to assist you.

Superb description and very smart diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 You are an important HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I also take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.

  • Have you tried duplex printing on normal A4 size or letter size paper?
  • Do the card stocks that you use match with the card stock specifications of the printer?

For starters please try these steps:

To print on both sides of the page
1. On the File menu in your software, click Print.
2. Make sure your printer is selected.
3. Click the button that opens the Properties dialog box.
Depending on your software application, this button might be called Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer Properties, Printer, or Preferences.
4. Select the appropriate options.
    ● On the Paper/Quality tab, select the appropriate paper type from the Media drop-down list in the Tray Selection area and then select the appropriate print quality in the Quality Settings area.
    ● Click the Advanced button, in the Paper/Output area, select the appropriate paper size from the Paper Size drop-down list.
5. On the Layout tab, select Flip on Long Edge or Flip on Short Edge from the Print on Both Sides drop-down list.
6. Click OK to print with card stocks.

Check if this does the trick for you.  Also check this document for duplex printing: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-4630-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/5305049/model/5395...

Check if this works. If it does not, then check with normal A4 size or letter size paper if double sided printing works. If that works, then the feature of the printer is to duplex print on normal paper and it is not designed to print on card stock.

Please check if the card stock used matches the card stock specs of the printer from this product specifications link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-4600-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/5305049/model/5395... loop up the option under “Paper-handling specifications”

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helpsplease mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
