Hello

I have just bought Laserjet Pro MFP 177w colour printer, the quality of the printing colours is not satisfactory at all.
I use windows image viewer to print normal photos (Games posters), the photos are in HD quality and looks amazing on screen but when I tend to print them, the colours are pale and the lower 1/3 of the page is covered with transverse lines (landscape layout).

I use two kinds of paper, A4 80gm white papers and HP glossy photo A4 papers 150gm

on A4 white papers the colours looks very pale but less lines, almost no details and loss of colours.

on the glossy papers, the colours are stronger yet not satisfactory and it loses alot of details and degrees of colour and lines are very clear on the lower 1/3 of landscape printing layout, generally the printing quality is not in HD or even close. I feel shame that inkjet for 60 bucks can do better than my laserjet colour printer for 300euro.

I am sure that I use the correct option, I use best quality option, correct type of media and sure economy mode was not selected.

I used photoshop to print a photo after I did some sharpening and the result was darker printing and losing more details.

let me know if there is a solution or something to get the printing quality better because it looks not easy or let me know if I chosed the wrong printer.

I used to print on Laserjet 6L black/white printer and photos were sharp and really treated well with more details but in black and white, that was 15 years ago.!!!!

what I want? is to print a decent photo on A4 glossy paper that looks nice, vivid and in HD or nearly  like those posters for 5 bucks sold on sidewalks, let me know if it is not possible with my 300euro printer.

Thanks for reading

Ahmed

Hi @AhmedKharbotly ,

I see that you are having issues with the print quality. I will certainly do my best to help you.

HP LaserJet products use fusers to bond dry toner particles to the paper in very precise dots.  Laser paper is designed to withstand this extreme heat. It is best to use Laserjet paper or bright white paper. Laserjet paper absorbs the toner into the paper. The paper you are using is probably too glossy.

Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.

Use plain paper. Go to Setup, Reports, Demo Page.

If the colors are still printing dark, calibrate the printer and follow the steps in this document to see if that will resolve the issue. Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M176n and M177fw Printer Series.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Have a nice day!
Thank You.

First, I would like to thank you so much for being helpful.

now, let me share this experience, firstly I printed the demo page and the result was so clear as I described lately and it was so disappointing for me, becase now we know the issue is within the printer itself.

I opened the page you have attached, hoplessly and helplessly trying to figure out something though I was sure it was something wrong with the heater or drum, I was sure there is no problem with the cartridges or the paper quality, I use white A4 certified paper and HP glossy paper 150gm made by HP itself. so I was a bit disappointed.

printed some other test pages and made the calibration 3 times, printed the cleaning page twice and nothing was improving the printing quality.

Then, I tried the subject of shaking the 4 cartridges and reinstall them, while I am doing that, I remember how was the printer delivered! It was delivered on its side so probably that was the reason.

I calibrated again, printed cleaning page again and then tried the demo page one more time and the result was awesome. it is just what I want from that printer... thanks alot and sorry...it was just as easy solution and I went to far.

Thanks again, very appreciated.

Your welcome AhmedKharbotly. Thanks for letting me know that redistributing the toner resolved the issue.
