@rogboy

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP ENVY 4527 All-in-One Printer. I read that you have tried to print in color for the first time on photo paper and are facing print quality issues. There are red lines through the print. Not to worry, I'll do my best to help you.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • How is the printing on normal paper?
  • Is the printer able to make a perfect color copy?
  • Are you using original HP ink cartridges or refilled ink?

It is quite possible that the color ink cartridge nozzles may have got blocked or the ink may have dried out due to non usage on the color ink.

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Let's check the ink levels:

On the printer control panel, touch the Ink icon   to display the current estimated ink levels.

Figure : Example of estimated ink levels displaying full ink cartridges

  • Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report:
  1. Make sure to load the input tray with plain, white paper.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.

  3. Touch Tools.

  4. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Print Quality Report. A Print Quality Diagnostic report prints.

  • Clean the ink cartridges:
  1. Make sure to load the input tray with plain, white paper.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, then touch Setup.

  3. Touch Tools, then touch Clean Cartridges.

  4. Examine the print quality on the Print Quality Diagnostic report.

  5. If the print quality is acceptable, click No. You can stop troubleshooting.

  6. If the print quality is unacceptable, click Yes when prompted to perform the next level of cleaning.
NOTE: If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.

If the issue persists then try cleaning the color cartridge manually by referring to "Step 12: Manually clean the area around the ink nozzles" from this link

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Keep me posted. Cheers!
