Deskjet 1050 uses hp 61 black and color.

Bought 2 X 61 cartridges at walmart went home installed back into my printer I've had for 3-4 yrs.  Color was good, black was faint to non existent.  Took back to walmart with receipt ..they said I had removed the protective tape from the cartridge and would not replace.  Sorta have to remove the tape to insatall to printer..They said HP might replace.......called hp, went through  a LONG bevy of questions including clean bottom copper tape with wet q tip wipe dry then re installl( I told her there was nothing on the white cotton..and whether or not my printer was plugged into 110 socket.  I swear.  Said she had more questions to see if she could replace the cartridge...I told her nicely not to strain herself ended the 40 min call.

As a matter of fact the other black cart I bought from Office Depot worked fine.  Lucky me, cause nobody will stand by this product.  Next equipment will NOT be hp.

HP cartridges DO have a warranty as described in the document here.  Sorry to hear of your difficulty getting a replacement, I will ask to have your case escalated.  Someone from HP should contact you in Private Messaging.
