Afraid not. Went through all the loops, got several (friendly but frankly useless) calls from helpdesk basically having me redo everything I already tried: reinstalling, rebooting, etc. etc....
Conclusion: No longer supported & it doesn't work. Scanning works nut no OCR.
OCR seems to be embedded deep somewhere in the drivers and I can't find even where the exectable is (If I could I could try to get it to do its work some other way, but alas.)
Shame on HP, but there you have it. Too old, not supported.
