I have the same exactly need.

We don't want the software, but just the driver.

Why can't HP provide just that?!

I've been looking for it on HP & Google, but it's just not available for download, and I dont' have the CD/DVD that came w/ the printer, so am very frustrated by the lack of driver-only download from HP!

I'm not sure what happened to the rest of the original post, but my question was asked as a reply to a thread that someone else already started.

He was asking for a driver-only file for HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g.

On HP's driver download page, there's a "basic" version (instead of full) of driver for this printer model.

However, upon installing the basic version driver, it installs some additional HP printer management software which I don't want.

All I want is just the .inf driver file.

I'm running Win7 Pro SP2, but many of my colleagues are running Win10.

Thanks/

The driver is available.  If you want just the driver download the basic driver Officejet Pro 8600 from HP here.  Run the file, and say "no" when it asks if it is OK for the program to make changes to abort the installation.  Now navigate to the %temp% directory.  Look for a folder starting 7zS... created at the time you ran the driver.  This folder will contain the .inf file for the driver.  Use Add a printer, Have Disk..., browse to the %temp%\7zs... directory you found earlier, select autorun.inf, select the HP Officejet Pro 8600, Next, Next, Yes (if prompted for the UAC)....

This looks promising - was able to locate the 7zs folder.

Will test & confirm next time I head into office.

Thank you so much for the instruction.

I wish HP had made the barebone driver available for download, instead of having to jump through this hoop.
