HP OfficeJet Pro 9025
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have two HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 printers in different rooms, both with a wired Ethernet connection.  HP Smart gives them both  the same name ("HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 Series"), making them difficult to tell apart.  I've renamed them both on the Windows 10 settings form (one is "Office Printer" and the other is "Media Room Printer").   How do I rename them in HP Smart (or how can I persuade HP Smart to use the Windows name)?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

There isn't an option to change the printer names. However, you can differentiate between the printer through their serial numbers. This way you may chose the correct printer and print:

Hi Betty0610,

Thanks for the quick response.  I understand that this is the best that HP Smart can do right now, but I'm reluctant to accept it as a solution because it's pretty unsatisfactory.   Diving deep into the details of a printer each time I want to do a scan is an inconvenience, and serial number is not a particularly user-friendly attribute.  I know I'm not the only one with this problem because I've seen similar issues from a couple of years back (now closed for further comment, which is why I opened my own).  Please open an enhancement request for HP Smart to provide a unique identifier for each printer, either by using the Windows name from Printer Properties, or (preferably) by allowing the user to enter a printer nickname.
