Hi ww135582,

You may assign or change the system password using the Embedded Web Server.

Assign an administrator password for access to the product and the HP Embedded Web Server so that unauthorized users cannot change the product settings.

1. Open the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS):

                             a. From the Home screen on the product control panel, touch the Connection Information button, and then touch the Network Connected button or the Network Wi-Fi ON button to display the IP address or host name.

                            b. Open a Web browser, and in the address line, type the IP address or host name exactly as it displays on the product control panel. Press the Enter key on the computer keyboard. The EWS opens. NOTE: If the Web browser displays a There is a problem with this website’s security certiƭcate message when attempting to open the EWS, click Continue to this website (not recommended). Choosing Continue to this website (not recommended) will not harm the computer while navigating within the EWS for the HP product.

2. Click the Security tab.

3. Open the General Security menu.

4. In the area labeled Set the Local Administrator Password, enter the name to associate with the password in the Username ƭield.

5. Enter the password in the New Password ƭeld, and then enter it again in the Verify Password ƭeld. NOTE: To change an existing password, ƭrst enter the existing password in the Old Password ƭeld.

6. Click the Apply button. NOTE: Make note of the password and store it in a safe place.

You may refer to the user manual here:

Hope this helped!

NVRAM Reset can help.

CAUTION: NVRAM initialization will erase all network settings. Be sure to print a configuration page and network summary before performing an NVRAM initialization to preserve a record of the network-setting information. Make note of the IP address that is listed on the Jetdirect configuration page. After performing an NVRAM initialization, restore the IP address if necessary.

1. Print a configuration page.
2. With the printer on, locate the right arrow ( )(or the up arrow  ). For touchscreen models, locate the Ready status.
3. Turn off the printer.
4. Press and hold the lower right of touchscreen where READY status displays.
5. Printer goes to “NVRAM INIT” and get reboot automatically.
6. Once Printer gets rebooted and check accessing EWS.

Kindly let me know is this helps.

Hi there, tried but not initialising with your instruction. Then I called HP HK support and their method is as following:

1. Turn off printer

2. Press and Hold both lower left & right corners of the touch screen for 7-8 secs;

3. AND press power utton simultaneously in step 2.

Initialising screen should appear and rest is success. I was warned that the printer might not be able to boot up if doing the reset process. Therefore ONLY got for rest process under warranty.

Cheers

Hi

Considering your current situation, you may try performing initialising steps. It just needs to be performed cautiously.

Good Luck.
