HP ENVY 5030 All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I moved from The Netherlands to the US, and brought my Dutch printer with me. I bought American ink cartridges, and I read on the HP support page that HP has to reset my printer in order for me to be able to use these US cartridges. However, I have tried contacting HP support many times, with no response. What can I do? I don't know how to reset the printer myself, and I need this printer to work again sooner rather than later.

I followed these steps from their own website:

Step 1: Make sure your computer is connected to your printer.

Step 2: Obtain compatible ink cartridges for your country/region (before you contact HP, you must have a full set of genuine HP ink cartridges for your current country/region)

Step 3: Contact HP support

  • Once you have a full set of genuine HP ink cartridges for your new country/region, HP support can reset your printer so it accepts the ink cartridges available in your current country/region.

So I'm stuck at step 3 basically. I've tried contacting them, but they don't reply

Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Yes, we'll have to do a region reset.

To do a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions:

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.

2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.

3. You need to have all the cartridges from the old region/country.

Please do let us know.

I have that all, but support told me to right click next to the ink level while holding down cmd+space, but cmd+space opens siri and/or spotlight, so that doesn't do a thing.

•Open the printer queue in Print & Fax, and then click Printer Setup.

•Click the Utility tab.

•Click Open Printer Utility.

•De-select the printer to reset. Click another printer name (if a second printer is installed) or click the Printers folder.

•Hold down the Option key, and then click to reselect the printer to reset. Continue to hold the Option key until the Set New Region window opens. This might take several seconds.

Use the "Copy to Clipboard" feature to paste the values here or take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me in private.
