Up until a few days ago the print to email function worked fine.. Now when i try to test my addreses I get a SMPT Server requires authentication error. Make sure SMPT username and password are specificed. I do not remember have done that in the past nor do I have any idea where i would make this entries in order to scan to email again. I am running mac devices on all in one 8600 printer.. All print function and scan to computer work fine.. I just cannot scan to email anymore.. Thx!!

Hi,
If there are blocked ports, those will be blocked by your router and not by the printer itself.
Please try setting the feature as following, that is based on the information I hve found online:
- Open the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Software, then click on Scan to Email Wizard.
- Click the New button,
- Type your Optimum email address, then click on Next.
- Set the Display name as required, that will be the listed option once going to Scan to Email from the printer, then click on Next.
- Set the SMTP server as following:
If your email address uses @optonline.net
SMTP Server: mail.optonline.net
SMTP Port: 587
If your email address uses @optimum.net
SMTP Server: mail.optimum.net
SMTP Port: 587 - Keep the Always use secure connection UNCHECKED.
- Check the Email Login Authentication, Enter your Optimum ID as the User ID. (Your Optimum ID is the part of your e-mail address to the left of the "@" sign, for example: jsmith.) and type your password, then click in Next.
- Click on Save and Test and check the results.
If the issue persist, I would suggest contacting your internet service provider and verify the correct settings for your email.
