HP Recommended
OfficeJet 6950
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

EDIT: Turns out I just needed to keep trying. The correct order for me was this:

1. Uninstall ALL HP programs

2. Restart PC

3. Reconnect HP printer

4. Let Windows handle setting up the app

5. Manually grab the software utility "HP OfficeJet 6950 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories" from here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-6950-all-in-one-printer-series/9666193...

6. Run Print and Scan Doctor again, it now detects HP Scan

Hi,

I used my OfficeJet 6950 wirelessly until now, but due to some issues with my network and router I've now connected it via USB. I did a clean reinstall of HP Smart and printing works just fine. Scanning, however, does not work at all. When hitting Scan on the printer, it asks me to check if "Manage scan to computer" is enabled on my PC. When checking HP Smart's scan section, it simply asks me to go back to home to see if the printer is connected and active (it is). I've done multiple restarts and reinstalls now and nothing works. For being an "all-in-one" app, HP Smart is not helpful at all.

I tried grabbing some other driver files manually, including the HP Printer Assistant software where you are supposed to be able to activate this missing setting (scan to computer), but that setting simply isn't there for my printer. All I see is open scan window and nothing happens when clicking that. I have also run the print and scan doctor program which only tells me to download the latest software, which takes me to the HP support downloads page, which in turn just directs me back to the Microsoft App store, where I already installed HP Smart (supposedly the latest version since it's through Microsoft).

Skipping that step performs a test scan, which works. The doctor app detects that HP Scan is missing and once more says just get the full feature software. Not sure how to install HP Smart -again- but have it come with all its components.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Nick
