MFP M525

Having a problem setting up TLS to work on a M525 with the latest firmware.  I'm reading through the documentation and searching for what exactly "Validate Certificates for outgoing server connections" does when you check mark it.  With this checked the tls session fails on our MTA with a error of "CAFAIL".  When I look at the printer logs it just says "44.A0.A1 SSL Failed Certificate Invalid".  I did a packet capture from the MTA and it shows the TLS negotion and the cert exchange then looks like the printer just terminates the connection.  If i leave that unchecked it does work.  I've reviewed the install/admin docs and cannot find a description of what this actually does anywhere.

Don't know if you ever got an answer to this issue... but I found that error in an HP doc.

Question:  Are you using HP's DSS (Digital Sending Software) package?  If so, I've got info for you.

This link will take you to a document (5 pages) talking about DSS 5 and Bi-Directional Communication between DSS server and Devices.  You want to read the very last two paragraphs on page 5.

If the link doesn't work for you, let me know and I'll send it to you.
